What Do You Do?

I was all set to talk about my 3 jobs when I finally read the question properly: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer this question, "what do you do?" Tricky!

But then again, it's not really when I start to list all the things I do or try to fit in a day.

When I take a break from working I can usually be found reading. I'm both a great and terrible reader. Great because I just can't get enough information or imagination from the things I read and terrible as I tend to read more than one book at a time, not good for the concentration.

I crave the escapism of fiction, that feeling of not being able to put the book down and the growth I go through with books on being creative, mindfulness and the fair amount of cook books that are now on my Kindle.

If I'm not reading then I'll be doodling something in a sketchbook or doing a tutorial in Photoshop or Illustrator. I do tend to get frustrated when what I'm working on doesn't go as planned or turn out as good as I'd hoped, which could lead to all my work being deleted or thrown in the bin! Not good practice I know, but I guess its a way of letting go and moving forward to the next thing and not dwelling on the terrible work I've just done. On the other hand, maybe I shouldn't be so hard on myself.

And if any of that isn't on the cards for the day, I'll be in the kitchen... baking. Now that we have a lovely flat to call our own I really enjoy cooking and, even more so than before, baking. I love 2 things most in the kitchen - My Kenwood mixer {thanks Mum} and my slow cooker {thanks Grandma}. Both make life in the kitchen easy and most importantly fun!
Just yesterday I was in there baking up a storm with muffins and oatbars.

So other than work, that's mainly what I can be found doing. Other obvious activities include watching various things on the Telly, watching and talking about movies in a nerdy fashion and playing the odd game on the Xbox.

I am hoping to add another skill to my repertoire come the summer, when I can get out in to our tiny little garden and create our own little bit of paradise - Wish me luck!

P.S.  I'd definitely welcome any gardening tips!!

Professing My Love

Todays topic has us publicly professing our love for a blogger friend or someone we know. Well I'm a little short on blogger friends at the moment {awww} as I'm still a bit new to the game, so I'm going to announce my love for someone else.

Blogging is meant to get a little bit personal once in a while, so I guess this is as good a time as any to formally introduce my other half, Peter {aka The Animator} and I'll try and lay off the cheese.

It's fair to say I love him loads, but I don't want to bang on about it so I think a good Top Ten is in order! I am completely obsessed with list writing at the moment so it all ties in nicely.

Here we go, the "Why I Love Peter" Top Ten - in no particular order:
  1. Peter is ridiculously funny and he makes me laugh on a daily basis. From voices to faces, good jokes to bad - it's all good!
  2. His passion for animation is so inspiring that it's infectious
  3. His hugs are 100% awesome - like a bear.
  4. He's a pretty good voice actor and can do great Scooby Doo and Krutsy the clown impressions. His Sean Connery isn't bad either!
  5. He is a world class Lasagne maker and makes the best in the world - fact
  6. He loves the same 80's action movies as me and we quote them often. You wanna get nuts... let's get nuts!
    {We also share a love for the works of Jason Statham!}
  7. We can have serious, intellectual conversations about The Matrix and Batman that would bore the pants off any normal human being
  8.  Occasionally he'll make up new words to songs to describe what he's doing or thinking - Note to self; record these one day
  9.  He always holds my hand when we're out for a walk - awwww
  10. He is so full of love and support for any sane or mad idea I might have

Please Note: these are just 10 of many reasons to love him ;-)

My Favourite Quote

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Seeing as it's Saturday and I have a day off, my favourite quote fits pretty well.
I did my fair share of skipping school {apologies to my parents and teachers}, but none of my days off were as eventful as Ferris'. Instead of singing in a parade I spent my time reading Lord of the Rings, which took almost my entire 6th year of high school to read - again apologies to Mr Clark for missing Graphic Communication!

There are times I've been stressed, tired, anxious or run down and each time I've remembered these words, I've stopped the noise in my brain for a few minutes or hours. Not really enough!
Now that I'm on my mission to be more mindful, the quote has a deeper meaning. In order to look around I stop, breathe, notice and just be. If we focus on the positives for as little as 5 minutes a day, we could all feel less stressed, recharged and that little bit happier.

It sums up how we should all live - take it easy, appreciate what we have and most importantly enjoy life.

And if we ever get the chance to fly around town in that Ferrari... take it!

My Life in 250 Words

I was browsing through my Feedly feeds this morning and found a little inspiration thanks to AcuteDesigns.com {a lovely lifestyle blog written by Gina}.  Jenni over at Story of my Life has started a Blog Everyday in May Challenge.

I'm a couple of days late so I need to do a bit of catching up. So here we go...

My baby brother and I in 1987
My name is Claire Glasgow and that’s where I was born - In Glasgow on what was mostly likely a rain day in March 1985. I am 2 years older than my musical genius of a brother who is in fact the funniest person alive.

My "baby" brother and I in 2008
My childhood was spent doodling, sellotaping things together and generally making a mess. Needless to say I did well in art at school, but drove my Mum nuts with the mess that was left in my creative wake!
We spent most weekends at our Grandparents house with our cousins playing Power Rangers, screaming at each other and inventing classic games such as Carry Warry Duck It (email for instructions).

My Grandma with all her Grandkids!
When I was 10, we moved north to Inverness where I got fresh air, fell in love with my beautiful country, met  lifelong friends and lived in a castle for a while.

I left for Uni in 2004 to study Computer animation & digital art and in my 3rd year, met Peter. Although not technically my lecturer, he did work in class so we felt a little scandalous when we got together. Flash forward 6 years  - we’re still together, just bought our first home {where I can now mess up my own living room} and couldn’t be happier.

I spend my days working part time for a design company, in 2 theatres in Glasgow selling ice creams and designing tattoos, tees, logos and anything else I can dream up for lovely folk all over the world! - Life is pretty good

6 words over!!

I might not fit in all the challenges but I'm going to try. You can join in by clicking the button below. Have fun :)
